What is IOSH training and why is it so important?

IOSH training courses help people at all levels in all sectors stay healthy and safe in the workplace. Two IOSH training courses are available: Working Safely and Managing Safely.

The Working Safely course covers the basics of health and safety for all employees, while the Managing Safely course is aimed at managers, team leaders and supervisors.

What is IOSH Working Safely?

The IOSH Working Safely course is designed for workers at any level where health and safety is critical to their role. The thorough one-day course provides an essential introduction to safety in the workplace. The course covers a range of important topics, from identifying potential issues to taking practical steps to limit them wherever possible. It is particularly relevant for employees who are new to the workplace and its associated risks, but it is also a useful source of information for those who have been working for some time.

Working Safely shows how everyone can make a difference to their own and others' well-being through everyday actions. The course focuses on best practice in the workplace rather than on legislation.

What is IOSH Managing Safely?

The IOSH Managing Safely course is designed to give supervisors, managers and heads of department the knowledge and tools they need to effectively manage their team's health and safety. This three-day course includes detailed step-by-step guidance, as well as providing a focus on business without the jargon or off-putting legal language. Practical and flexible, the course helps managers gain the confidence they need to keep their staff safe.

It also helps them to encourage their teams to appreciate the importance of safety measures in the workplace, improving a company's safety culture.

What is the difference between an IOSH and NEBOSH course?

IOSH courses are aimed at employees and managers who don’t have specific responsibility for health and safety. NEBOSH courses (qualifications) are aimed at people who are seeking a career in health and safety management.
